In his recent book “Hell and High Water†the physicist Joseph Romm has revealed that hydrogen energy is not as clean as often assumed. The Technology Review published an analysis of the problem and stated, that a hydrogen car would probaÂbly produce far more carbon dioxide emissions than gasoline-powered cars available today.
The discussion is about the pollution emitting from the car’s tailpipe, the amount of CO2 that occurs during the production of hydrogen and the possibilities to store the gas underground if it is “only†generated centrally at the factories.
Even though these findings won’t be the end of hydrogen energy research but at least the agenda has to be rethought.
Something to say?
