A team of MIT undergraduate students has invented a shock absorber that harnesses energy from small bumps in the road, generating electricity while it smoothes the ride more effectively than conventional shocks.

According to the MIT report this technology should increase the fuel efficiency of electric vehicles by 10%.

I really like such approaches because it’s a kind of using a waste product for supporting the intrinsic use of the originator. Or to cite Zack Anderson from MIT: “This is a disruptive technology. It’s a game-changer.”
